Clothing Center

Text Box: Each year the center serves over 2,000 students and distributes over 55,000 (new and gently used) articles of clothing.

INTRODUCTION

Knox County Council PTA and the Knox County Schools offer a unique service to the students enrolled in our schools.  With the help of our Knox County PTAs and PTSAs, United Way, Knox County Government, Knoxville City Government, and other organizations and individuals, the Center provides children with the clothing needed to attend school regularly.  This helps to improve a child’s self-esteem which leads to improved educational readiness.

1986: The Clothing Center became a United Way Partner

The purpose of the Clothing Center is to provide clothing assistance for students who are enrolled in a Knox County school and have a financial need.

THE CLOTHING CENTER DEPENDS ON OUR LOCAL PTAs and PTSAs!

1. Participate in the clothing drives twice each school year collecting gently used and/or new clothing.  KCCPTA sets dates for the spring and fall drives each year - but you may conduct a drive at any time.

2. Clean out your school’s lost and found.

3. Make a donation of at least $50 annually to help purchase new clothing.

Not a PTA or PTSA?  You can still help.  Donations of money and/or clothing are accepted and greatly appreciated at any time and by anyone!

CLOTHING IN ALL SIZES IS NEEDED CONTINUALLY!
