Council Awards

ADVOCACY IN ACTION AWARD

Presented to the local unit that provides programs to their school and community that inspires, educates and starts conversations with the intent of providing every child with the tools they need to be successful. 

 

ATTENDANCE AWARD

Presented to the local unit represented by the largest number of delegates at all of our Council General Meetings.

 

AWARD OF EXCELLENCE/AWARD OF MERIT

Presented to a local unit in recognition of projects and programs of exceptional service to children and youth.  Second and Third place recipients receive the Award of Merit.

 

BETTYE LIS AWARD

Presented to an individual who exemplifies the PTA volunteer spirit in all that they do for the welfare of children and youth.  .

 

MEMBERSHIP CREATIVITY AWARD

Presented to a local unit with the most creative membership campaign in the county. 

 

OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER/COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Presented to an individual from each school that devotes many hours to the programs and projects that make the local unit outstanding.  It is from these entries that the Bettye Lis Award winner is chosen. 

 

PARTNER IN ADVOCACY AWARD

Presented to community partner organizations to recognize exceptional efforts in child advocacy.

 

PRESIDENT'S PARTICIPATION AWARD

Presented to a president that takes full advantage of the many opportunities for local unit participationSchool of Instruction, our general meetings, the TN PTA summer leadership training session, the East TN Region Fall Conference, TN PTA Legislative Conference, the Annual State Convention, and National Convention. Presidents must also attend at least one of the Knox County School Board meetings, in addition to participating in several programs, projects and contests in which we readily encourage participation.   

 

PRINCIPAL’S RECOGNITION AWARD

This project recognizes the Principal who actively supports PTA by encouraging all families to become engaged in their child’s education through volunteering their time in the schools. 

 

READING AND LIBRARY SERVICE AWARD

Presented to a local unit that supports their school library with both time and money, encourages reading in both child and parent, and a wide range of other services to the library.   

 

SCRAPBOOK AWARD

The purpose of a scrapbook is to provide an attractive, historical documentation of the local unit's objectives, goals, activities, programs and accomplishments from year to year. .

 

Other awards presented:  Outstanding Principal, Outstanding Teacher and Outstanding Local Elected Official.
