Membership

Membership is open to anyone who believes in the National PTA Mission and Purposes.  A strong, involved, and informed membership is the most important asset of the PTA.  The small amount of dues that is sent each year provides an abundance of materials that will inform and educate the parents in your PTA and train your leaders, but your PTA must take advantages!

PTA is the largest nonprofit volunteer child advocacy organization in the country.  All officers and board members are unpaid volunteers, whether national, state, region, council or local unit/school.  Members should know how dues are used, as well as the benefits that are provided by Council, State, and National PTA.

No matter what PTA/PTSA membership dues are at your school, it is only $3.00 per member for Council (.25), State (1.00), and National (1.75) dues.  What other national organization can you join for dues of only $3.00 annually?

Council membership is priceless!  For only a quarter per member, Knox County Council PTA provides the following:

· Celebration/Recognition Events

· Child Advocacy Partnership Representation

· Community Service Project and Partnerships

· Council Programs on Hot Topics

· Leadership Development Opportunities & Support

· Monthly Newsletter and Website Updates

· Parent Involvement Opportunities

· Representation at County Commission and Board of Education meetings, and

· Student Enrichment Opportunities

Knox County Council PTA  challenges all Knox County PTAs and PTSAs to help build strong and a strong community for all children.

Knox County Council PTA membership goal for 2009-2010 is 22,500.

Bill Williams, Former WBIR Anchor,

is once again our Knox County Council PTA 2009-10 Honorary Membership Chairman.

Thank You Mr. Williams!

Upon payment of dues to your Knox County PTA or PTSA, members automatically become part of National PTA, Tennessee PTA, and Knox County Council PTA, joining over 6 million members nationwide —  124,000 members in Tennessee and over 20,000 members in Knox County.

If you are affiliated with a local PTA/PTSA school, we encourage you to become a member there first.  If not, Knox County Council PTA At Large Unit membership is an option for those individuals who may not have a child in public school and/or those you prefer a countywide membership in PTA.
