PARTICIPATE ̃ Council Guidebooks are available to all Knox Co. PTA and PTSA Presidents. Guidebooks contain resources and detailed information about opportunities to participate in countywide programs, student competitions, and community service projects. ̃ General Meetings, held monthly offer special programs on topics of interest to all PTA/PTSA members. ̃ Student Enrichment Opportunities are limited to PTA/PTSA schools only. Council offers annual countywide competition opportunities in Citizenship, Reflections, and Safety. ̃ Community Service Projects are conducted throughout the year, including three continuing projects; the Teacher Supply Depot, the Clothing Center, and the Scholarship Fund.
EDUCATE ̃ Monthly Programs are presented at General Meetings to address “hot topics” and promote awareness of child advocacy issues. ̃ Leadership Training for all PTA/PTSA Presidents and board members is available at several council and state PTA events throughout the year, select monthly meetings, and by special request. Council board members can bring specific training seminars to your school.
COMMUNICATE ̃ Council Newsletter, The Children’s Advocate, is mailed to all PTA Presidents, Principals, and council board members, as well as community and school leaders. ̃ Electronic Communication is the easiest and fastest way to stay informed about PTA activities, legislative issues, child advocacy efforts, and important deadlines. Council board members can be contacted via email. ̃ Council Website, www.kccpta.org, provides easy access to council happenings. Every Knox County PTA and PTSA has an informational page for posting information for their members and all members.
ADVOCATE ̃ Attend Meetings & Become Active - Attend council meetings/events and attend at least one school board meeting/workshop and county commission meeting to become more familiar with the process of managing our school system and our county. Report back what you learn. ̃ Community Partnerships can bring us all together for a common cause - our children and the future of education in our community. Council is continually working with many community partners to bring critical information to PTA leaders and all parents. |
