Welcome PTA President!
President’s Responsibilities
The president is elected by the members to lead the PTA and to conduct PTA business in accordance with the bylaws.
The president works with the principal and assistant principals, other board officers, teachers, PTA members, and the school community to develop and fulfill specific goals that reflect the PTA’s mission and are approved by the members.
Particular tasks and procedures vary from local PTA unit to local PTA unit so check your PTA’s bylaws, standing rules, and/or the procedure book for information about the president’s duties in your PTA. Always be in touch with Knox County Council PTA and TN PTA.

- Represent the PTA
- Take active role in administration – including financial and legal obligations
- Maintain ongoing communication with members
- Foster relationships
- Any other duties outlined in your Standing Rules and Bylaws

- Elect your officers for 2020-2021 in March, April or May according to your bylaws.
- Complete the KCC New Officer Form and email to president.kccpta@gmail.com
- Complete the Knox County School’s SSO (School Support Organization Forms) (found HERE) and return to Garrett Raiden electronically via the School Support Organization Annual Registration, by mail or email:

- Close out your school year on a positive note – thank your teachers and principal.
- Access any needs that might be apparent for students over the summer that PTA could address.
- Remember as President you are NOT a dictator but rather a leader, an organizer. You have one vote just as everyone else on your board and within your membership.
- Keep lines of communication open with your Principal.
- Contact KCC PTA with questions or concerns.
